Katerina Diakou                        ︎︎︎

Hello! I’m Katerina Diakou but you can call me Kat!

If you ask anyone the one thing that I love most in the world is football! Of course Liverpool is the only way to go (but if you don’t support Liverpool I’m sorry and please keep reading:).

I am a graphic designer and my practice extends across a variety of formats:
-video making
-branding
-photography
-web design
-publication design

I utilise my position and skills in graphic design to investigate and communicate important messages and current issues. I became interested in using graphic design as a tool to convey issues due to my families experience of being refugees from Cyprus and not having a voice and the ability to communicate their story in a universal graphic format. This silence that they were subjected to influenced me to be the generation to make that change.

I would like to continue to use graphic design as my main tool in communicating messages whether that be research based or in a more commercial circumstance.

If you have a project you would like to discuss, or maybe a question or you would simply like to say hi, feel free to message me via my social media links or email!

Internships:

In 2021 I was invited to participate in two internship schemes at Liverpool School of Art & Design. I was apart of a student led team which presented research findings regarding the
effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on staff and student wellbeing at the Teaching and Learning Conference. Following this presentation I was apart of a second team which conducted further research and designed a informative guidance pack for teachers at LJMU in regards to teaching under the Covid-19 pandemic.
